World Vision UK relief trucks came to the aid of more than 9,000 people in Gaza last weekend, the aid agency’s first convoy to arrive into the territory since the recent conflict began. Distributions of emergency kits for families will begin in southern Gaza’s Rafah area, with another shipment planned for North Gaza next week.

Items in World Vision’s kits include canned tuna and beef, vegetable oil, beans, lentils, tea and biscuits. They also include a picture brochure, printed in Arabic, warning families about the dangers of unexploded bombs and how to recognise and avoid it.

National Director of World Vision Jerusalem, Charles Clayton, said –

‘As we meet these vulnerable households’ immediate needs, we also call for conditions that will allow recovery for families throughout Gaza – most urgently for the opening of all border crossings to full capacity to permit humanitarian aid’

World Vision UK is one of 13 agencies appealing to the British public, through the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), for donations to relief work in Gaza.
