About The Art Fund

The Art Fund is an independent charity first formed in 1903 and has over 80,000 members. In the 100 years that they have been formed, their tireless work has helped save over 860,000 works of art in the UK. The Art Fund receives no government funding or Lottery grant, which allows the charity to speak out on behalf of museums, and of course their visitors.

Where does your money go?

Through memberships and donations, The Art Fund is able to campaign for the proper funding of museums across the country alongside the continued enrichment of public art gallery collections. Thanks to this funding, the charity is able to lobby for improved tax incentives, which in turn encourages individuals to sell or donate paintings. The Art Fund also led the successful campaign 8 years ago to extend free admission to all national museums and galleries, allowing more people to gain an insight to this countries spectacular heritage.
