Herders in some of the most drought-stricken parts of Africa are struggling to survive as the land gets drier. Camels are able to cope with arid conditions, and can produce up to 20 litres of nutritious milk a day, as well as being able to carry heavy loads of water. FARM-Africa trains 'village vets' in remote communities to ensure camels and the people who rely on them stay healthy.

About Farm Africa

FARM-Africa which is an international non-governmental organisation. Their aim is to reduce poverty in eastern and South Africa and they run projects in Ethiopia, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and more recently Southern Sudan. They work in partnership with marginal farmers and herders, by helping them to manage their natural resources more effectively to help build sustainable livelihoods. FARM-Africa believe that with even a little assistance, African farmers can dramatically improve their own well-being.
